It’s that time of year again, where the weather is hot and the beach is calling. One beach in particular that called to me was Alys beach. My for you page has been flooded with images of this beach as well as Rosemary beach and I was shocked to find out these beaches were in Florida. So of course, I sent Rob a link and he books us a trip. I will say we booked this trip sort of last minute so the places to stay were limited but we overall still had a great time. I thought I would put together a post explaining where we stayed, what we did and my overall experience in 30A.
First things first, we ended up staying in a beach house along the beach right between Alys beach and Rosemary beach. I think technically the name was sunset beach. Click here for the link to our beach house This was our first time staying in a beach house/rental which was definitely…different. I am a resort/ hotel girly so please keep that in mind lol I loved having space for everyone (me, Rob and our two kids) but I missed having daily housekeeping, room service and all the things that makes a vacation a “vacation” to me. The house itself was nice though don’t get me wrong, but having to wash the sheets & towels on vacation was not it. That being said, the scenery outside was unreal! Absolutely gorgeous views, architecture and so so clean. It felt like you were in a different country.
Next up the beach, like I said where we stayed was right on the beach however, there were a ton of stairs to get down to the sand plus we were responsible for renting chairs and umbrellas. Both of which were first come first serve… which we did NOT know before hand and unfortunately they were all sold out on our first day. In hindsight, I think if we stayed directly on Alys beach it would have been way better. They have a full service private beach so basically everything gets set up for you and you can order food/drinks at the beach (much more my speed). Definitely not a deal breaker considering it’s literally the same water but something to consider. We made sure to get to the beach early after that first day to ensure we had chairs and umbrellas for the day. You’re also not allowed to have your own umbrellas and tents or else we would have just bought some.
Let’s talk food. My favorite places to eat were Raw & Juicy, George’s & The Citizen (all of which were in Aly’s beach, I’m noticing a theme here). At Raw & Juicy I loved the avocado toast, waffles and acai bowls. I’m going to try and recreate them at home for sure. George’s had the best fettuccini and The Citizen’s smoked oysters were incredible! A few places that were recommended but you can totally skip are LaCo (not the worst Mexican I’ve ever had but pretty close) and Fonville. Fonville was so cute on the inside but their food was just ok. They also have a market inside so I would go there for grab and go food instead.
Rosemary beach had all the cute shops! On our last day we headed over there and walked up and down main st to buy merch. They had so many boutiques, coffee shops and more! I loved this part of town! One thing to note is that everyone rides a bike in 30A, so I would totally rent one so you can easily park, walk and get around. The people there are so friendly and love to chit chat & help. We had such a good experience and never felt “othered” if you know what I mean.
Overall, we really had great time and I clearly fell in love with Alys beach, 100% staying there next time and cannot recommend that area more! I think I’m just a hotel/ resort girl through and through but I’m happy I got to experience something like an airbnb. Again, here is the link to the beach house. Thank you Rob for this much needed trip <3 Have you heard about 30A Florida? Would you stay there? Let me know!
